UDHAMPUR, Feb 23: A middle aged woman was knocked to death by a rashly driven tanker on the National Highway at Bharat Nagar, Udhampur here today.
The deceased was identified as Sarishta Devi (45) wife of Jagdev Singh of Bharat Nagar Udhampur. After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
According to the police, the deceased was walking on the roadside when an unidentified tanker hit her late last night. Locals shifted her to District Hospital Udhampur where she succumbed to her injuries this morning.
Meanwhile, in another road accident, a pedestrian was hit by a Truck bearing registration number JK14D-9066, at Barnara near Majalta. Locals shifted the injured to PHC Majalta where doctors referred him to District Hospital Udhampur. The injured was identified as Ankush Khajuria (26) son of Shiv Kumar of Barnara in Majalta Tehsil.
