Mid Day Meals staff unpaid for 10 months

MENDHAR, Apr 20: About 170 employees of the State Education Department engaged under Mid Day Meals scheme in various Govt schools in Balakote Zone of Mendhar Sub Division in district  Poonch, are  without wages for the last ten months.
Official sources said that most of these temporary workers are  widows  and others with  very poor back ground. They are paid just Rs 1000 per month by the Education Department. But they are not paid for the months together.  These poor workers approach only to the concerned Head Master or the clerks who  pass buck to the higher authorities, claiming that they have not received funds from  the  CEO Poonch or ZEO concerned.
ZEPO concerned, Javed Ahmed Khan when contacted said that he had no knowledge about the matter while staff at ZEO office claim that they have  not received funds from CEO Poonch.
CEO Poonch, Lal Hussain when contacted  claimed that he has cleared the wages of these workers  and transferred Rs 1.50 lakh  in the account of concerned ZEO some time back. He  assured to hold an inquiry into the matter and take action.
