JAMMU, Dec 24: The workers engaged under MGNREGA held strong protest rally at Exhibition Ground near Press Club here today.
On the 14th consecutive day of their protest programme, a large number of employees under the banner of All J&K MGNREGA Employees Association (RDD) assembled at Exhibition Ground in the morning at around 11 am and then started protest demonstration. The workers from various districts and parts of Kashmir province also joined the protest program.
Provincial president from Jammu, Sandeep Kalotra and John Mohd from Kashmir province besides others also addressed the gathering and alleged that despite assurance by the RDD Minister to frame a definite policy for the regularization of MGNREGA workers nothing has been done so far.   Many of them are highly qualified and they are going to be over aged.
While addressing the protest Kalotra raised slogans in support of their demands and urging on the occasion to Government for immediate settlement of the burning demand as job policy. He said this is a ‘do or die’ agitation in favour of legitimate demands. He said this is our first and last demand of  regularization of our protesting employees.
They were assured by the administration and RDD Minister for redressal of their demands but they have only  broken promises.  They warned to start indefinite strike protest from  December11, 2017 at respective district headquarters.
From  December 18, massive protests were going on at Jammu. But the Government was least bothered and now it has been resolved to launch Jail Bharo Andolan.
Sandeep Kalotra said that when youth are coming out with their genuine demands, why they are being pressurized to call off their protest/strikes by the people around  RDD Minister as well as others in  Administration.  He said now employees have decided to go for Jail Bharo Andolan   Several other trade unionists also spoke on the occasion.
