MGNREGA employees extend strike for 72 hrs

JAMMU, July 10: All Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) employees of Jammu province have extended their ongoing strike for another 72 hours.
President of the Association of these employees, Sandeep Kalotra told reporters that their strike shall remain at district level against the alleged false promises made by the government for framing a job policy for these employees.
He informed that thousands of highly qualified youth are working under MGNREGA sincerely since 2007 in Rural Development Department (RDD).
“RDD has failed to frame any job policy for these employees for the last 11 years and they have not been regularized till date,” he maintained.
He requested the Governor, N.N Vohra to get look into the matter and save the future of MGNREGA employees.
