JAMMU, Feb 3: Tall claims of the security agencies for full-proof security arrangements during two days Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s visit to the winter capital proved to be futile, as a mentally challenged woman managed to climb on a tree from where the PM along with Governor, Chief Minister and other senior machinery of the J&K Government had to pass for the inauguration of the 101st Indian Science Congress organised by University of Jammu today.
As per sources, a mentally challenged woman was found climbed on a tree just 12 feet far from the Tawi bridge during PM’s movement.
PM after leaving the Governor House had to reach Jammu University for the inauguration of the 101st Indian Science Congress organised by University of Jammu after crossing the Tawi bridge. Though the entire route was sanitized number of times before his arrival and during his stay at Raj Bhawan still giving a slip to security agencies, a mentally challenged woman managed to climb a tree near Tawi bridge, where from the PM’s cavalcade had to pass.
This has raised a question mark over the security arrangements as the tree on which the lady was sitting secretly could be used by any anti-social element also for any misadventure.
The strange thing is that how the woman managed to reach at the site amidst tight security and how she climbed up the tree after crossing long wall having glass covering on it.
On first, police personnel tried to bring down the woman and later sought assistance of the personnel of Department of Fire and Emergency Services.
Police with the assistance of personnel of Department of Fire and Emergency Services brought down the woman from the tree situated at the corner of Press Club Jammu with a minimum 8 feet wall underneath having glass pieces fixed on it.
When contacted police official, told that the woman has been identified as Sakina, a resident of Darhal, district Rajouri.
He added that the woman is not mentally sound and was handed over to one of her relatives, who is working as a ‘langri’ at Bakshi Nagar police station.
