Mehjoor takes 6 wkts as Sports Council registers win in CM’s Cricket Cup

JAMMU, Mar 17: Speedster Mahjoor Ali Sofi took 6 wickets by conceding 25 runs in his 6.3 overs to help J&K State Sports Council XI thrash Katra Cricket Club by 9 wickets in the ongoing 1st State Level 50-Over Cricket Tournament for Chief Minister’s Cricket Cup, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council in collaboration with Country Cricket Academy at Gharota, near here.
Batting first, Katra Cricket Club collapsed at a paltry total of 63 runs as Mehjoor Ali plotted their collapse. Apart from Nitest (21) and Ajit (10), none of the other batsmen could cross the double figure mark. Apart from Mehjoor, Nadeem Dar and Mujtaba Rizvi also claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, Sports Council XI chased the target in 5.5 overs by losing one wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Manzoor Dar and Khalid remained unbeaten on 33 and 23 respectively. Rashid took the lone wicket to fall.
In tomorrow’s fixture, RCC Srinagar will take on National Cricket Club Jammu at 9 am.
