Mehbooba seeks people’s support to change present corrupt system

JAMMU, June 2 : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti today sought support of the people to change the prevailing inefficient and corrupt system in the State.
Addressing series of public meetings at Talab Tillo and Bahu Fort area of Jammu city, Ms Mufti said that in 2002 priority of the party was to restore peace in the State.
“By establishing peace in the State after 2002 by implementing pro-peace and reconciliatory policies, PDP had proved its capability”, she said, adding, “this time our emphasis in on changing the system with the support of the people”.
While mentioning towards complete failure of the present dispensation to provide basic amenities to the people, she reiterated that PDP wants to establish a system where every citizen would get equal opportunities of upliftment and development. She regretted that people of the State was confronting to get basic amenities like drinking water and power.
“In the scorching heat, people of Jammu have been facing hardship due to total breakdown of power system”, she said and mentioned even in Kashmir there was total shutdown of power for four days.
Pointing towards problems of the educated unemployed youth of the State, she strongly demanded that recruitment process should be streamlined and there should be direct recruitment on Government jobs. “There is no need of appointing youth on contractual basis against over one lakh vacant posts in various Government departments” she said and demanded that all the Contractual employees should be regularized.
Pointing towards rampant corruption in the Government, she said that present Govt. headed by Omar Abdullah has crossed all limits of corruption. “While as in other parts of the country a debate is going on how to eradicate the menace of corruption but in Jammu and Kashmir Government itself brazenly taking steps to weaken the anti-graft bodies”. She said that honest officers are sidelined while as plum positions have been given to the corrupt officers.
