JAMMU, Aug 12: Chief Minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti today met BJP general secretary, Incharge Jammu and Kashmir, Ram Madhav in New Delhi to discuss with him the issue of Article 35A of the Constitution of India.
Mehbooba-Madhav meeting lasted about half an hour, sources said.
Madhav, who is BJP’s pointman on Jammu and Kashmir, later told reporters in New Delhi that matter of Article 35A of the Constitution of India is before the Supreme Court.
“Therefore, we need to find a legal solution to the issue,” he said.
He added that since the issue is before the Supreme Court, it can be handled legally only.
Mehbooba was in New Delhi for last three days. On Thursday, she had met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh while yesterday she called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to mobilize their support for protection of Article 35A of the Constitution of India, whose validity has been challenged before the Apex Court by the RSS think tank.
Article 35A defines state subjects of Jammu and Kashmir.
