Mega Kissan Mela held at Pattan

Srinagar, May 17: Army in collaboration with Department of Agriculture today organised first of its kind ‘Chinar 9 Jawan Mega Kissan Mela-cum-exhibition’ at Government Middle School ground in Tapar Payeen at Pattan area of Baramulla district.
A defence spokesman said the highlight of the event was awareness lectures and display stalls providing a wide array of information on Agriculture equipments, Beehive, Mushroom, Potted plants, Utility of Solar Energy by Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Association (JAKEDA), Fisheries, Sericulture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry (Including live animals with Disease Diagnostic Kit).
“Apart from the information dissemination on the latest technology free seed packets were also distributed to farmers & villagers. The event was organised to facilitate the farmers to avail latest technologies available to increase their annual yield,” he said.
The spokesman said: “The area received less snowfall this year and also adversely affected by untimely rain due to which farmers feared loss in cash crop. To provide genuine assistance, Army under approached the concerned administration for executing timely preventive measure. The event received overwhelming response from the seminar which was attended by over 1500 locals of Pattan and adjoining areas.”
