JAMMU, Mar 19: Envisaging a strong link between the essential religious practices and new strides in the field of medical science on the single continuum, Dr. Sushil Sharma, HoD Cardiology, GMC Jammu today held a day long camp at Ram Nagar, Keerian in Kathua (J&K) on the seventh day of Bhagwad Sapta by Swami Sri Vishwatamanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj.
The camp was inaugurated by Swami Ji with the invocation of vedic hymns and a prayer for universal peace and brotherhood. More than 500 patients were screened, evaluated and advised for prevention of cardiovascular diseases and other related disorders during the camp.
Dr. Sushil said, “one part of the religious-medical mindset is compassionate service, but another part is passive acceptance of divine will. Consequently, in religion-based healthcare the ultimate good is actually the health of the soul. Suffering, in this view, may be a test, a punishment, or a way of cleansing sin. In any case trying to discern and obey God’s will is supremely important. Moreover, the priorities of religious practitioners and the objectives of secular medicine align most oftenly. If essential religious practices are followed on a positive note viz., prayers, feeling optimistic in all thick and thin of life, no hatred towards anyone, universal compassion and following the noble dictum of Vasudev Katumbakam etc. It will go a long way in creating an overall healthy environ both from within and outside”.
Swami Sri Vishwatamanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj made a fervent appeal to the people to shun the path of violence and live a healthy life compatible with traditional Indian wisdom vis- a- vis recent updates in the field of medical sciences.
Others who were instrumental in this human endeavour included Dr. Mohi Kalsotra, Dr. Anitipal Singh, Dr. Chakshu Mahajan, Dr. Kewal Sharma, Dr Sham Singh ,Dr Poonam Jagiasi, Dr Saroop Gupta and Dr Sourav Gupta.
Volunteers comprising Vikas Kumar, Kamal Kishore, Kashmiri Lal, Raghav Rajput,Vikas Sabharwal, Ankush Kohli, Rohit khajuria Akshay Kumar ,Rajinder Singh, Sunny Jalotria, Harvinder Singh, Raj Kumar, Jagjit Singh, Rajeev Vohra, organisers of Swami Sri Vishwatamanand Charitable trust and numerous disciples of the Trust were present.
