POONCH, Dec 24: The Medical employees of Sub District Hospital Mandi today struck work and went on strike in protest against the manhandling of BMO Mandi by some villagers at Bedar village on Saturday.
Official sources said that BMO Mandi along with a few senior employees paid visit to Bedar Health Centre as some people were staging protest there against Health authorities on Saturday. They were demanding posting of doctor there. BMO Mandi Dr Mushtaq Hussain tried to pacify the public. During the process a few villagers allegedly thrashed the Medical officer.
Today morning, the Medical employees at Mandi hospital struck work and started protest dharna in front of the hospital. The Chemist shop owners also joined the protest. They demanded arrest of the villagers who attacked BMO. Later, SDM and Tehsildar and ASP went there and pacified the protesting employees assuring registration of FIR against accused.
Meanwhile, Doctors Association Jammu (DAJ) condemned the attack on the BMO Mandi Dr Mushtaq and demanded immediate action against the culprits.
