JAMMU, Jan 10: PoK Displaced Persons’ (DPs) indefinite chain dharna that is being held under the banner of SOS International – an organization for PoK DPs entered into Day-15 at Bakshi Nagar, Jammu.
A team of six members from Rajouri district headed by Pt Lekh Raj Raina and accompanied by Ravinder Kumar Sasan, Rajinder Sharma, Balbir Singh, Jyoti Saroop, and Kewal Krishan sat on dharna to continue their struggle for getting their legitimate rights.
Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor Jammu City today visited the dharna site and interacted with the PoK DPs sitting on dharna. Rajiv Chuni, chairman, SOS International, presented a charter of demands to the Mayor, who assured the dharna holders and Chuni that their cause will be taken up with the Governor and other concerned authorities for the resolution of the demands.
Pt Lekh Raj Raina has said that PoK DPs are agitating today for their legitimate demands which have been denied by all the successive Governments for the last more than seven decades. “This indefinite dharna will take a serious turn in due course which will be followed by harsh measures including fast-unto-death till the final goal is not achieved”, he added.
Raina also alleged that as and when the dates of elections approaches nearer, political parties allure these displaced persons by showing green pastures and after winning the elections they disappear like gone with wind. Raina further stated that we have chosen this time intentionally to start our agitation to teach these law makers and Government a lesson either to fulfill our demands or we will perish you in the elections.
He warned the State/Centre Government that they will not budge even an inch and no compromise will be made till they achieve their goal for the achievement of this destitute society of displaced people.
