Mass awareness campaigns to be organized during Road Safety Week: RTO Kathua

KATHUA, Jan 8: Regional Transport Officer (RTO) today rolled out its plan to educate people about road safety measures and regulations under 28th Road Safety Week being observed from January 9 to January 15.
Interacting with the media persons here, RTO Kathua, Amarjeet Singh briefed that awareness drives besides events would be organized during the week long campaign. He added that programs at different parts of the district would be held to educate people about road safety and necessary documents required for safe driving. He said the massive campaign is aimed to sensitize people about safety measures.
While throwing light on the activities to be undertaken during the Road Safety Week, RTO informed that a road show will be held wherein students of schools, colleges and cadets of NCC and NSS besides volunteers of Red Cross Society will participate. A road safety express would also be launched on the inaugural day. The exhibition of road safety regulations will be held during the week in association with Private Schools Association at prominent locations of the town.
He informed that awareness camps for drivers and conductors as well as for general public would be held at bus stands and bus stops. He disclosed that training for first emergency responder and free eye check camp will also be held with the help of District Hospital authorities and Red Cross Society for drivers.
He further added that debate and painting competition would be also held at Government Degree College Kathua during the drive.
