In martyr’s village, work on Health Sub-Centre abandoned for 8 yrs

MENDHAR, Oct 2: Exposing tall claims of Government for providing good health care system for the general public, the work on a Health Sub Centre at the village of Martyr Aurangzeb (Salani) in Mendhar Sub Division of district Poonch is lying abandoned for the last 8 years.
According to locals of tye area, the work on this Health Centre was started in 1989 but it is being being still run from a private rented building. During 2009, foundation for the work was laid with the estimated cost of Rs 97.56 lakhs, under National Health Mission and District Plan.
“ Since 2010, work on this Center is lying abandoned and time and again we visited the offices of the officers of Civil Administration but all in vain “ a local Khalid Hussain said.
He said that work on this Center is lying abandoned with local administration least bothered to carry out construction. Salani village of Mendhar was native village of Army’s rifleman Aurangzeb who was kidnapped and murdered by a group of militants a couple of months ago.
Executive Engineer PWD, Surinder Singh said that he has taken over the charge only few months ago and assured that he will take details of this project and also take up the work on priority.
