JAMMU, Aug 4: Mansi Dubey, Komal Dhiman and Manvi Puri of GGHSS Mubarak Mandi, while Shanti of Shiksha Niketan and Neha Jeral of GGHSS Shastri Nagar clinched Gold in Taekwondo Under-40, 46, 58, 45 and 50 kg weight categories respectively on the concluding day of the Inter-School District level Tournament in the sports disciplines of Taekwondo Under-19 Girls and Fencing Under-19 and Under-17 Girls at Indoor complex, MA Stadium, here.
In all, 103 girls drawn from Govt and Private Institutions of district Jammu took part in the competitions, which were organized under the patronage of Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed, Director Youth Services and Sports, and under the Chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu.
Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu was the organizing secretary of the competitions.
The main objective of these competitions was to select the teams for District Jammu in the various sports disciplines for Inter-District Divisional Level competitions.
In Fencing (Foil) Under-19 girls, Riya Bakshi of APS Domana won Gold, Mannat of GHSS Mubarak Mandi bagged Silver, while the Bronze Went to Lidhya of GHSS Mubarak Mandi and Palak of GHSS Canal Road, while in Fencing (Foil) Under-17 girls, Ashu Rani of DBN clinched Gold, while Apoorva of KV No-1 won Silver and the Bronze medal was bagged by Ishika of Dewan Devi Rajpura Mangotrian and Mansi of KINT Green Model Academy.
Meanwhile at Kathua, Nikhil of KPS Barnoti lifted the Under-19 Badminton singles title by defeating Anshu of Nav Adarsh Kathua and the duo of Raghav and Divansh of DPS Rajbagh claimed the Under-19 Badminton doubles title by prevailing over Little Angels Kathua in ongoing Inter-Shool District Level Tournaments, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the overall supervision of DYSSO, Kathua, Subash Chander Bhardwaj.
In Kick Boxing, Sulaksh Sharma of RSJN Kathua, Prikshit Singh, Abhishek, Madhav Sharma, Aman Inder Singh of Little Angels HSS Kathua, Arshad Hussain of GHSS Kathua, Samply Kumar of GHSS Kiran, Tarbjeet Singh and Puneet Sharma of DAV Kathua claimed gold in below 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80 Kg weight categories respectively. Aryan Saran of DAV Kathua stood first in above 80 kg weight category.
Kuldeep Singh, Rakesh Manhas, Pankaj Spolia, Chinta Devi, Romesh Singh, Darshan Kumar and Omkar Nath officiated the matches.
