JAMMU, Sept 30: Former Minister and president, District Congress Committee (DCC) Kathua, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma appealed the people of Municipal Council Kathua, Municipal Committee Billawar, Nagri, Hiranagar and Basholi in Kathua district to vote for the Congress candidates in the municipal elections.
Dr Manohar Lal Sharma said that the aim of Congress to fight any elections is not to seek power for itself but to build a national consensus by involving different shades of public and political opinion in Municipal, Panchayati Raj, Assembly and in the Parliament so that they could find a way in making J&K a peaceful and developed State.
The former Minister said that the BJP owe an apology to the people of the State for compromising their interests and they kept their personal interests above the larger interest of the people on every front, be it development, governance, security or political aspirations. He said the PDP-BJP coalition was an unholy alliance” stitched together with the “singular agenda of remaining in power. As a consequence, public interest became a causality.
He said the Congress, which believed in secularism, unity and communal amity, alone could undo the damage inflicted by the erstwhile Government’s divisive politics. “The ongoing Municipality and upcoming Panchayat polls are a fight for dignity and justice for the people of the State,” he added.
The senior Congress leader appealed the cadre to gear up for the challenges and continues to work with great vigour for the development and well being of the people. He appealed the people of Kathua district to vote in favour of the candidates of Congress Party in ongoing Municipality elections.
