JAMMU, Dec 4: Dr Manohar Lal Sharma former Minister and general secretary PCC  has shown serious concern over the recent rise in the prices of petrol and diesel which will further lead to price escalation of all commodities specially food grains and other items in daily use.
The Congress leader in a statement issued here today said it is first time in the history of country that petrol and diesel price has increased up to Rs 70/liter and Rs 60/liter and price is increasing every day. This abrupt rise in fuel prices further created uncertainty in the market which has adversely affected the budget of common man. Dr. Sharma visited different villages of Billawar namely Didwara, Mandli, Durang-Dangara, Kadharnu, Ramkot, Chingi-Makwal, Kah and Mela to attend various social and religious functions these areas and to interact with people. He said that the BJP-PDP Government in the State and at the Centre are responsible for the public suffering due to lack of basic amenities and complete failure to address the problem of unemployment.
Dr. Sharma said that during the UPA Government when the crude oil price was 147 dollar international market the petrol was sold at the rate of Rs 67/-liter  and now when the rate is more less and often between 35/- to 50/- dollars per barrel the price charged by the Modi Government is more than Rs 70/- liter of petrol and Rs 60/liter of diesel after increasing the excise duty manifold.
Sharma said  Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders always accused the UPA Government over price rise during Parliament election and other public meetings but BJP and its leadership is completely silent over this unprecedented price rise by increasing Excise Duty instead to cut the Excise Duty already charged during the regime of UPA Government.   Modi has not missed any singular occasion to make comment or joke over UPA Government led by Dr.  Manmohan Singh. Now why he and his team is not fulfilling the promises made to the innocent people of the country even after a lapse of three and half years, he added.
He  said the common man feels that he is cheated by the false promises made  by the  PM Modi and his team by saying “Acchey Din Aayenge ” now if they are serious to control price rise they have to slash down the excise duty on petroleum products which will give sigh of relief to the already over burdened people of this nation.
