Manmohan Shastri passes away

JAMMU, Dec 6: Jyotshi Dr Manmohan Shastri a well known scholar of Shastras and publisher of Vijeshwar Jayantri an almanac passed away at his Ajit Colony Gole Gujral residence near here this morning after a prolonged illness. He was 76.
He is survived by his wife and two sons. His cremation took place at Gole Gujral Cremation Ground this afternoon. A large number of people drawn from all walks of life participated in his funeral procession.
Belonging to the renowned Shastri Parivar of Bijebehara Kashmir which has been publishing the almanac for over 300 years, Shastri Ji though was a Ayurvedic doctor by profession started publishing the Vijeshwar Jayantri in Jammu over two decades back to continue his family legacy.
Union Minister in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh has expressed his grief and sorrow over the demise of  Shastri Ji and he talked to his son Punnet Shastri on phone from Surat Gujrat. He conveyed his condolences to the family. He said Shastri Ji was a great scholar and a noble personality. He termed his demise a great loss.
