UDHAMPUR, Aug 11: Appa-lled at the Kashmir centric political parties getting united to issue threats of dire consequences in case the Article 35A was tinkered, a battalion of Panthers Party activists spearheaded by Balwant Singh Mankotia, State President JKNPP and Dhani Ram Atri staged a vociferous protest demonstration against the BJP for its criminal silence over the issue at Slathia Chowk Udhampur.
The angry protesters burnt the effigy of the Saffron party while seeking repeal of the said article in the interest of the State and the country further describing the same as illegal, unconstitutional and void ab initio.
Addressing the media, Mankotia said that the Kashmir based political parties including the NC and PDP had jumped into the fray of ‘competitive separatism’ for promoting the agenda of the secessionists ruling the roost in the valley. He said that Dr Farooq Abdullah after chairing a meet on Monday had openly dared to challenge the Union Government that in case the Article 35 A was abrogated it would lead to mass uprising which could be a far greater revolt than Amarnath land row.
Mankotia stated that Article 35A was unconstitutional as it had been extended to the State by virtue of presidential order in 1954 and without having been passed by the parliament which rendered it void ab initio. He warned the BJP to wake up from the deep slumber induced by the power intoxication and univocally raise the issue to fulfil the election promises made to the people on Article 35A and 370. Mankotia maintained that Panthers party shall oppose, expose and depose the Saffron brigade for inflicting dents upon the pride of Dogras besides its meek surrenders and blunders in a bid to trample the aspirations of Jammu region.
