VIJAYPUR, Oct 24: Alleging that many areas have been facing underdevelopment even as crores of rupees were spent for black topping of road and other construction works in Bari Brahmana and its adjoining areas, Senior Congress leader and former Minister, Manjit Singh has demanded a probe into the works being taken up and done in Badi Khad, Mean Charkan and other areas.
Singh raised the demand while speaking before the hundreds of people in a public rally in Badi Khad area. Singh also raised the issue of water supply system in the area.
“The water is being supplied after 15 to 20 days in Badi Khad locality and it had hit the normal life badly due to the discriminatory approach of the department,” Singh alleged.
The former Minister said that the black topping which was done on many of the washed away roads during flash floods in the recent past have again been damaged.
“The Government should order a probe to ascertain the standard of material used in the black topping of roads,” he asserted and further alleged that the money released for flood victims has been misappropriated and used in other works to appease some vested interests.
Alleging further that the local unemployed youth are being ignored and people from outside the State are being preferred on higher jobs in the industrial sector, he said there is a need to give preference to the local youth as this sector was opened for them.
