Man shot dead in Shopian

SRINAGAR, Nov 15: Militants tonight shot dead one Nadeem Mushtaq, resident of Safnagri, Shopian.
Mushtaq was earlier abducted and later shot dead.
A police party has reached the spot.
Meanwhile, a Hizb militant said to be a close aide of Special Police Officer (SPO)-turned-militant, Adil Bashir, who looted weapons from the residence of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker in Srinagar was arrested today by security forces in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Police arrested Mohammad Rafiq Bhat from the residence of his uncle in Achan village of the district early today. He is believed to be a close associate of Adil Bashir who looted seven rifles from the Jawahar Nagar residence of PDP MLA Aijaz Ahmad Mir on September 28.
After looting weapons, Bashir was seen with top Hizb commanders in pictures which had surfaced on social media.
Sources said that Rafiq was one of the persons who transported the looted weapons from Srinagar. As his name surfaced, he went into hiding and joined the militancy.
A police spokesman said that on a specific information a joint naka of SOG Pulwama, 55 RR of Army and 182 battalion of CRPF was laid on Lassipora Achan Axis in Pulwama today.
“During search an active militant of HM namely Rafeeq Ahmed Bhat alias Salahuddin Bhai son of Mohammad Ashraf of Achan Pulwama was apprehended along with one AK 47 rifle, two magazines and 40 live rounds”, he said.
A case has been registered in Police Station Litter, Pulwama under relevant Sections of law and investigation taken up. “During initial questioning it has surfaced that said militant was involved in the looting of weapons from the residence of MLA Wachi in Srinagar”, the spokesman said.
And a massive fire broke out in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in Qazigund area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district this evening. Fire broke out in CRPF camp here in Qaizgund while as the authorities have pressed its men and machinery to douse the fire.
The CRPF spokesman, Rajesh Yadav, said that the fire broke out in a CRPF camp of 163 battalion in the walnut factory at Qazigund. He said that the efforts are on to douse the fire. However, he said that there was no information about the arms and ammunition in the camp.
The fire was, however, brought under control but the building was damaged in the fire.
Security forces today cordoned off Bugam village in South Kashmir district of Kupwara following inputs about presence of militants in the village.
As the security forces started house to house searches, residents gathered and protested against the launching of the operation and pelted stones on the troops. Security forces fired tear smoke at the protesters leading to clashes. However, the operation was later called off.
In the meantime, a massive search operation continued for third day today in the forests near the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of the frontier district of Kupwara. Two militants were killed two days ago when Army foiled an infiltration attempt by a group of militants.
Security forces continued searches in the area for third day today despite bad weather conditions and difficult terrain. The operation was launched after alert troops intercepted a group of militants on Tuesday evening and gunned down two of them in an encounter.
