Man sentenced to imprisonment for outraging modesty of woman

UDHAMPUR, May 17: A local Munsif court of Majalta has sentenced a man to two-year imprisonment for outraging the modesty of a woman. A fine of Rs 2,500 has also been  imposed on him.
The Presiding Officer of the Munsif court, Touseef Ahmed Magarey,  convicted Rajinder Singh of Thalora, Majalta for outraging the modesty of a woman.
According to the prosecution, a written complaint was lodged by the victim at the Majalta police station two years ago. The victim reported that she was sexually assaulted by the accused. Accordingly, a case was registered and after the completion of the investigation, a challan was presented in the court.
After hearing the counsel for the accused,  the court awarded two-year imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2,500 to the convict under Section 354 and 458 of the RPC. In case of default in payment, the convict shall undergo further imprisonment of one month.
