Man injured in gun shot, accused arrested

JAMMU, Oct 5: A man today sustained bullet injuries when one of his relative opened fire on him at Bathindi area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a man identified as Anjum Malik son of Saraj Din, resident of Sirdosabad (Bathindi), was returning back to his home from city along with his wife on a bike when on reaching near his home, his relative namely Sadam (22) son of Gulzar Mohd, resident of Sirdosabad, with which he had some old enmity over a lane, attacked him with stones.
This enraged Anjum who rushed into his house, brought his 12 bore rifle and opened one round of fire on Sadam. Though Sadam safely escaped from bullet shot but a splinter of the bullet hit his forehead and made him injured.
Sadam was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where his condition was stated to be stable.
When contacted, SDPO Jammu East, Arun Jamwal, said that a case in this connection has been registered while the accused was arrested and weapon used in the offence seized. He said that they are investigating whether the weapon was licensed or not.
