Man injured in bear attack, villagers flay Wild Life Deptt

DODA, Dec 26: A man was seriously injured in a bear attack in the Sindra village today morning.
As per police sources, 45-year-old Shiv Ram, son of Faqir Chand, a resident of Sindra was seriously injured when a bear attacked him in the nearby forest area.
After hearing hue and cry, locals rushed to the spot and rescued the man. They shifted the injured to District Hospital Doda, from where he was later referred to GMC Jammu for specialized treatment.
Panic has gripped different areas of Doda District after increasing number of man-animals conflicts. The people flayed the Wild Life Department, which is watching these conflicts like a mute spectators.
A large number of wild animals have strayed into residential areas triggering fear among the residents of rural areas of Doda District, said Pawan Kumar.
He added that Wildlife Department is not taking these threats seriously and is putting the lives of the villagers and their livestock at stake.
The locals residing in upper reaches of Chenab Region said that large number of bears and leopards stray from the adjoining forest range into their villages in search of food. They demanded establishment of control room of Wild Life Department in Doda District.
