Man held with illicit liquor, 2 for illegally manufacturing liquor

POONCH, Feb 22: A man was arrested today with 425 bottles of illicit liquor in Mendhar town.
“On a specific information, a team led by SHO, police station Mendhar, Anayat Hussain under supervision of SDPO Mendhar Neeraj Padyar raided a house of one Suriender Singh son of Kesar Singh, resident of Saria Market, Mendhar,” a police official said, adding during raid 425 quarters of 180/180ml of JK special whisky concealed in boxes were recovered from the house.
He said in this regard, a case FIR number 27/2019 u/s 48A Excise Act has been registered at police station Mendhar and the accused has been arrested.
Meanwhile, Kalakote police arrested two men from Pathera village of Kalakote for illegal manufacturing and sale of desi liquor in the area. The accused identified as Jogiter Singh son of Angrez Singh and Swaran Singh son of Jagat Singh, both residents of Pathera, were found illegally manufacturing liquor during a raid conducted by a police team led by SHO Kalakote, Mustaj Ahmed under the supervision of SDPO Nowshera, Brijesh Sharma.
The desi liquor along with lahan and utensils meant for manufacturing liquor was seized on spot and the accused were arrested. A case FIR number 11/2019 under sections 48(a) (e) Excise Act has been registered at police station Kalakote.
