Malaysia Q3 GDP grows 6.2 pct y/y, beats median forecast

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 17:   Malaysia’s economy expanded 6.2 percent annually in the third quarter, central bank data released on Friday showed, recording its highest quarterly growth in more than three years. Growth in the July-September period was supported by robust private sector spending and strong exports, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) said at a news conference. The median forecast of a Reuters poll of 13 economists was for growth to remain steady at 5.8 percent, matching the pace set in the second quarter. Strong growth over the first half of 2017 led Malaysia’s government to revise its full-year growth projection to 5.2 to 5.7 percent from 4.3 to 4.8 percent. (AGENCIES)
