JAMMU, Jan 9: Senior PDP MLC Yash Pal Sharma today demanded early completion of Polytechnic College in Poonch which has been sanctioned under the centrally sponsored scheme “sub-mission on polytechnics under coordinated action for skill development” at the approved cost of Rs 13 crore.
Intervening into the debate during the Question Hour, Minister for PWD Naeem Akhtar directed the Chief Secretary to personally look into the matter and expedite the process to get the project completed in shortest time.
Raising a Supplementary query, the PDP legislator Firdous Ahmad Tak criticised the executing agency, JKPCC, for executing work on Polytechnic College Kishtwar at snail’s pace.
The MLC said the youth of the district have been suffering badly due to non-completion of the project and sought the PWD minister’s intervention.
In response to his concern, Naeem Akhtar assured that he would look into the matter and the project will be completed by the end of this year.
Meanwhile, Firdous Tak expressed his concern over non-availability of neo-natal intensive care facility in district hospital Kishtwar and regretted that seven newborn children died while being shifted to Jammu from Kishtwar.
He also offered funds from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for setting up of NICU unit in district hospital and asked the Health Minister to provide technical staff as well as required manpower to make this facility a reality in the district.
Minister for Health and Education Bali Bhagat assured the House that he would look into the matter and efforts would be made to make first NICU unit functional in district hospital Kishtwar.
