Major bovines smuggling bid on Mughal Road foiled, 94 cattle seized

POONCH, June 11: A major attempt of smuggling bovine animals to Kashmir via Mughal Road was foiled,  after police seized nine vehicles loaded with 94 cattle in Bafliaz and Behram Galla area of Surankote last night.
Official sources said that during routine nakas  last night by Surankote Police led by SHO Anzir Mir  and SI Sukhbir Singh ( I/C PP Behramgalla), under the supervision of SDPO, Surankote Riaz Choudhary, intercepted nine vehicles including six Tata Mobile vehicles and three trucks. They found total 94 milch animals being illegally transported to Kashmir via Mughal Road.
During operation, Tata Mobile vehicles bearing registration numbers JK21C -6484, JK12- 6065, JK11B 9204, JK11B-8216, JK11B-4668, JK12A-0318, trucks/Junga bearing Regd No. JK03D-1518, JK12-7455 and JK12A-6939 which were carrying bovine animals were also seized.  All the cattle were rescued.
Only three persons could be arrested by police. They are identified as  Imran Khan, son of Mohd Bashir, Zaffar Iqbal, son of Mir Hussain from  Thanamandi  and Mohd.Aslam, son of  Mohd Aziz, from   Nagrota Palma Tehsil Rajouri. The police said that others escaped from the spot after seeing police naka party on the road, leaving their vehicles.   It further said that  an  FIR has been registered under relevant sections against the accused persons and investigation was launched.
