Jammu, May 9: IGP Jammu Zone Rajesh Kumar presided over a Darbar of over 1000 officers and jawans of District Police at DPL here. He was accompanied by DIG Jammu Shakeel Ahmed Beigh, Incharge SSP Jammu, Rajeshwar Singh. The Darbar was attended by all Zonal Officers, SDPOs, SHOs and IC PPs of Jammu Zone besides other Officers and Jawans posted in different Police Stations, Police Posts of District Jammu and DPL Jammu here this evening.
Detailed interaction was held with officers and jawans about their problems and other welfare measures. Individual and common issues concerning the welfare of officers and jawans were heard as this provided an opportunity to all the officers and jawans to vent their grievances and problems before the IGP.
While addressing the officers and jawans, IGP laid emphasis on improved conduct and behavior while dealing with the general public. He stressed upon the jawans that they should wear proper uniform and their turn-out must be standard while performing their duties. He stressed upon them that being serving in discipline force they should not violate traffic rules while driving and avoid driving two wheelers without helmet and not use triple riders .
He directed the officers to promptly respond to the public complaints and be friendly with the people. He stressed them to avoid any human rights violations. While briefing the officers, he also stressed that there is need for corruption free policing. They were asked to maintain complete impartiality and remain polite in their ublic dealings.
He directed all Police officers of Jammu Range to remain alert and vigilant to thwart any nefarious designs of anti-social and anti-national elements . He emphasized upon surprise checkings and establishing special nakas for checking of vehicles . He directed them to increase night patrolling and strengthen nakas.
Mr. Kumar called for synergising Police- Public partnership groups and directed the territorial officers to conduct regular meetings with the general public in their area of responsibility. He stressed upon the District officers to reach out to the common people particularly in the remote and border areas and seek their invaluable cooperation and assistance in curbing the menace of infiltration and checking the movement of terrorists and maintenance of communal harmony and brotherhood. He also asked the officers and jawans to keep their eyes and ears open against any threat from militants and other anti social elements in view of the forth coming Shri Amar Nath Ji Yatra.
