Mahila Congress workers stage protest demonstration

JAMMU, Jan 9: In connection with the on-going campaign against worst impact of demonetization on common masses, activists of Mahila Congress under the leadership of Pradesh Mahila Congress, president,  Indu Pawar today organized a massive protest demonstration against the NDA Government headed by Narendra Modi and PDP-BJP Coalition in J&K State.
A large number of activists of Mahila Congress carrying placards and banners shouted slogans against the BJP Government at the Centre for snatching meals from the people in general and poor section of the society in particular. Mahila Congress activists held `Thali-Peet’ protest, to give a message that pro-industrialists policies of the NDA Government have snatched two time meals from the commoner.
Mahila Congress workers were carrying rolling pins and plates in their hands amid shouting of slogans against BJP Government. They were beating plates with rolling pins and spoons to awake the  BJP leadership from deep slumber.
Speaking on the occasion, Indu Pawar said that with the demonetization decision women are the maximum sufferers and Prime Minister Narendar Modi is still ignorant about this fact. She said that not only the decision has snatched the money of common people, but every section of society has been affected by it.
She said Mahila Congress would try to wake up the BJP Government at the Centre from deep slumber on the issue of problems being faced by women after demonetization. Pawar also said that  all restrictions on withdrawal of money be lifted with immediate effect. Till the time these restrictions are in place, a special interest at the rate of 18% per annum should be given to all Bank Account holders.
She further said that the rate of rations distributed under that PDS system should be halved for a period of one year under the provisions of the Food Security Act. In addition, a special one time bonus of 20% should be provided over and above the MSP of all Rabi crops. Moreover, Rs  25,000 should be deposited in the account of at least one women belonging to each BPL family as compensation for the immense suffering caused to women due to demonetization.
After holding the protest they moved to DC office Jammu for handing over the memorandum.
Similar protest was organised by Mahila Congress activists at Srinagar today. State vice president Mahila Congress, Shamima Raina was leading the protest.
