Proper Budhal is a small town containing about 100 shops, Police Station and about 300 houses. It is situated on the mound near Gabbar Nallah in between 33 degree 23 mnts latitude and 74 degree 41 mnts longitude. The town falls on the Southern range of Peer Panchal which is connected with motorable road with Rajouri. Another road from Budhal to connect Gool Gulabgarh is also under construction. This beautiful spot is existing on enroute to Budhal pass or Sedhu pass which leads towards the valley while the Sedhu pass is about 24 kms from Shopian (Kashmir) and 25 kms from Budhal town.
Budhal is a beautiful valley located in between the main Peer-Panchal Range of mountains. The geography of the area is comprised of snow capped attractive peaks, thick forests, gushing streams, crystal clear lakes, meadows and pastures. No doubt that the area could not be developed properly and no tourism activity is available, but keeping in view the natural scenic beauty, this area easily be compared with the terrain of valley and can be developed for tourism purposes by constructing huts/touist sarais at Koteranka. By this way, the condition of the people can also be improved.

Anju Munshi

In today's fast -paced life, the home is turning to be the most relaxing space. To create a cosy atmosphere around the house, the market offers a variety of accessories, finds Anju Munshi
A few quick questions
Are you in love with your house? Or is it just a night- stand after a hard day's work when you shove your clothes and briefcase in the closet, wake up next morning to hurriedly tidy up the place and hide the most unflattering things - old newspapers and shoes, dirty clothes and kids' toys by slamming them in ?
If it is the latter, you need to do some introspection for, experts today feel that the home is not just four walls and you, but a therapy centre too. You need time for retreat and your home is potentially your best shot. Think about what you can do to make your house, apartment or room more comfortable and then spend extra time there to recharge your batteries.
With many lifestyle programmes in the electronic media filming celeb homes and showing their designing skills or displaying how the professional interior designers do wizardly things the 'tell-it-like-it-is' storyline attracts viewers greatly. Look, the TV screens goads, how a dull dilapidated study has been transformed into a plush room!
It does plague one with an 'interior-anxiety', so to say, for you sure don't want to lag behind in this house-beautiful era.

Medicos in Hindi movies

A C Tuli

The story of this film has a close resemblance to the story of the film ‘‘Dil Apna Aur Preet Parayee’’ (1961) in which Rajkumar was the director, Meena Kumari his nurse, and the domineering Nadira the woman whom the doctor had to marry. But there is a huge difference between the two films. Whereas the Kishore Sahu-directed ‘‘Dil Apna Preet Parayee’’ dealt with the medical profession in an elementary manner, in the Honey Irani-scripted- ‘Armaan’ the medical profession is presented in a far more sophisticated and knowledgeable way.
In real life, a doctor is perhaps never so blunt and categorical in telling his patient, who is suffering from a terminal illness, as to how long he is going to live. But in real life a doctor can afford to be brutally matter of fact while dealing with his patients. In Zeher Emran Hashmi takes the young girl he is madly in love with to a doctor for medical check-up. The doctor, who has already conducted some tests on her, tells her that she is pregnant.
The girl is obviously thrilled by this good news. But in the very next breath the doctor also tells her that she is suffering from cancer. The girl, of course, is very nearly paralyzed with shock on hearing this. With tears in her eyes, she asks the doctor how long can she expect to live. The doctor, like an oracle, then predicts that she has not more than three months to live. Perhaps a real-life doctor would not make

Adieu Indian Hockey!

Krishna Mohan

In a matter of just a few days the headline writers in the country have exhibited a full range of emotions. The victory in the triangular one-day cricket international series in Australia sent them into ecstasy with some gloating headlines raising visions of a 'resurgent' youthful Indian cricket team becoming number one in the world! Even before this euphoria had died down came the abysmal news of the defeat of the Indian hockey by Great Britain in Olympic qualifying round matches in far way Chile. The defeat eliminated India from participating in the hockey event at the Beijing Olympics. It was an unprecedented humiliation for Indian hockey.
The defeat was unanimously described as 'shameful', which would perhaps erroneously lead some to believe that the Indian hockey team that played in the qualifying rounds in Chile was capable of winning. The 'shameful' chapter had indeed begun a few days prior to the final surrender before Britain when the same country had handed a drubbing to the Indian team. The fact is that the Indian team that participated in the Olympic qualifying round matches was ranked lower than Great Britain.
There was no dearth of head-hunters in India after the decisive defeat in Chile. The media was at its carping best and the hockey fans were dumbfounded. The politicians joined the two in demanding heads-of the bosses of the long discredited Indian Hockey Federation, particularly its chief, aged 'super cop' K.P.S. Gill. The latter arrogantly refused to step down, saying "IHF is not a coffee machine that could

Counselling Institutions needed

H.C. Katoch

One vital aspect has been ignored in the education system. Although some institutions the Private or Army educational institutions have engaged psychologists to assist both the parents and the students for regular interaction with the psychologist, yet the Government has overlooked the need for positioning the psychologists in the institutions where the younger generation has to be groomed for becoming successful in their career as well as good components of the society. Our present day life is full of stress because of severe competition for survival and also for better living. During this course some of the students collapse, while some others drop out from the study. Some dropout cases are because of poverty, while most of the cases are due to other psychological reasons unknown to the parents and the teachers.
The Government tries to enroll the students for achieving 100% literacy rate and devises ways and means to overcome this situation, but the rate of drop out continues to be in its place. Despite the provision of scholarships to the economically weaker sections or socially disadvantaged groups, the drop out rate continues. Our study of the rural area on sample basis has indicated that it is not the poverty, but other psychological or social customs or family rigidity that plays the role for the dropouts. The reasons for dropouts have never been appeared to be studied seriously by the Government institutions to my knowledge. Even if studied, the solution in

Don’t worry Relax and Enjoy

Dr T K Munshi

A renowned Indian spiritual teacher, Mehar Baba (1894-1969) often used the expression “Don’t worry be happy” with his followers. After 20 years of Baba’s death singer Bobby McFerrin won a Grammy for his song based on this simple quote. Who wouldn’t want to live a more relaxed worry-free life?
In our busy world it’s not unusual to feel worried from time to time. However, too much worrying can lead to daily anxiety, sleeplessness, fatigue, headaches and feelings of dread. Worry clouds vision, deflates the spirit, plagues the emotional body, ages us with furrowed brows, graying hair and stooped shoulders.
What are you worrying about?
Did you ever know that more than 95% of the things we worry about never actually happen? Some people spend a good part of their life worrying about all the things that could go wrong. This is called “What if ’’ thinking when you engage in this type of thinking (‘‘What if I never find a good job?” “What if I never met someone and opened my life alone?” Your body generates adrenalin, which increases the amount of anxiety you feel.
A healthier approach is to remind yourself that most often the things you worry about will never occur. In order to live your life fully and creatively, you must accept that there will be inevitable risks.
How much control do you have?
There are two types of situations in life: Those that you can change and those that you cannot. Worrying about what you cannot change wastes valuable energy you could be using to move your life in a more positive direction for those situations you can change, try taking a more active role in resolving them. Once we go forward and face our fears head on, our self-esteem skyrockets and our worries and anxieties diminish.
Worry springs from taking life too seriously. Are we being irresponsible if we don’t worry?
To worry about friends/family doesn’t help them all. We’re not taking care of them by worrying only projecting fear towards

Process of Self-Purification

Acharya Mahaprajna

What is self-purification and what are its principles? The spiritual practitioners and self-realized souls made many important discoveries in this sphere and fortunately these were preserved and are available to us today.
The first step is Kayotsarga. Kayotsarga means- total relaxation of the body. Through it, old habits are changed, refined.
The sadhak resolutely says to himself: " I practice Kayotsarga to purify or sublimate an undesirable habit or disposition to undertake penance, to cleanse and purify the heart, to heal up the wound inflicted by addiction to remove the thorn thereof and to annihilate the sinful atoms of attachment and illusion, and of karma, which on account of bad habits, permeate the body and mind from all sides".
Kayotsarga ('Self-awareness of relaxation') removes all ills, purifies character. He who does not know the technique of kayotsarga cannot change his nature.
The specialists of self-hypnotism have enumerated four canons. The first canon is: " auto-relaxation". It means self-relaxation. It is the very process of kayotsarga. Without the technique of kayotsarga the process of changing one's habit is not completed. Whether it is the matter of changing one's disposition or curing a disease, the first essential step is kayotsarga.
The second axiom of changing one's disposition is - "self analysis"- anupreksha. We must analyze the habit, the disposition that we want to change. One has to practise anupreksha-self-observation and self-analysis. Self- analysis is the second rule of hypnotism. The second rule of the technique of kayotsarga is-anupreksha. Both run parallel to each other. If I want to get rid of anger, I must do some self-analysis as to why anger is bad. Why do I want to get rid of it? If there is nothing wrong with it, the question of abandoning anger does not arise. Is anger bad? I must reflect upon it. I must dissect it, practice anupreksha, go deep into it, and reach a state of perceptual judgement and reflective analysis. The second victim of anger is the heart. The moment a man is assailed by wrath, the heartbeat registers a sudden increase. The heart palpitates
