Madan demands Regional Council for Jammu

Jammu, Jan 27: Madan Lal Sharma Member Parliament Jammu Poonch Constituency & Veteran Congress leader demanded Regional Council for Jammu Region and voiced that the funds to Jammu Region should be allocated as per District and Population share on the pattern of Leh & Kargil Hill Development Councils.  He said that the Council for the Jammu Region should be Autonomous in nature.
Justifying his demand, he said that this will ensure due share of Jammu and there will be no disparity with Jammu Region. He called upon the State Government to full fill the promises made with electorate of Jammu Region on the basis of which Congress was voted to power and the common minimum programme which is the very basis of coalition with National Conference includes that both Jammu and Kashmir Divisions will be treated at par and their issues will be addressed in the interest of general masses.
He expressed  concern over non fulfillment of major issues like settlement and rehabilitation of Refugees, Implementing of 73rd & 74th Amendment, addressing issues of Border population including allocation of plots and RBA to them, proving reservation to Jats under OBC, Waiving of VAT from Army Canteen items.  Mr. Sharma added that the Regional Council which will be Autonomous in nature will take up and settle issues at its own.
Mr. Sharma raised the demand of Regional Council while addressing Republic Day Function at Raghunath Bazaar Jammu.  He also congratulated Jammuities on the occasion of Republic Day and appealed for maintaining peace and communal Harmony which is the need of the hour.
