Lt Gen Joshi pays homage at Col Khushal Chand Memorial

LEH, Jan 22: Lt Gen Y K Joshi, GOC Fire & Fury Corps, today paid homage at the Col Khushal Chand Memorial, Khaltse, on behalf of Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, GOC-in-C, Northern Command and interacted with the next of kin of Army martyrs and veterans.
Col Khushal Chand is also known as “The Saviour of Ladakh” for his valour, sacrifice and selfless devotion to duty. He was awarded the Maha Vir Chakra for his courage and unparalleled bravery during the 1948 Indo-Pak War.
During the function, the GOC Fire & Fury Corps laid a wreath at the Khaltse War Memorial and while interacting with the next of kin of the Army martyrs and veterans, informed them that the Indian Army was commemorating 2019, as the ‘Year of the Next of Kin’. The GoC commended bravery of martyrs and veterans and assured all those present, that the Indian Army would continue to look after them, as part of its larger extended family.
