LS grieved over martyrdom

NEW DELHI, Jan 2:
The Lok Sabha today expressed profound  sorrow on the “cowardly” terror attack in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir in which five CRPF personnel were martyred on New Year’s Eve.
Speaker Sumitra Mahajan read out a brief statement saying the act has “brought pain and suffering to the families of deceased”.
The House of the People stood in silence for a while as a mark of respect to the memory of the departed. Five personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force were killed when heavily-armed terrorists stormed a security camp on New Year’s Eve.
Several Bharatiya Janata Party members raised “Pakistan Murdabad” slogans. The Speaker greeted all the members to mark the beginning of the New Year.
She said, “I wish all of you have a good year ahead”. Before the day’s proceedings began, members greeted each other. Among others, Jyotiraditya Scindia (Congress) shook hands with Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar and also Union Minister Gen V K Singh.
The issue of the terror attack in Pulwama figured during Zero Hour also.  Responding to the issue raised by Congress member Mr Scindia, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister said there should not be any politicisation of terror-related issues.
“In past three-and-a-half years, our security forces have also eliminated over 200 militants,” Mr Kumar  said. (UNI)
