LPEF criticizes Govt on negative provisions of SRO 520

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Jan 2: All J&K Low Paid Employees Federation (LPEF) today criticized the Government on negative provisions contained in SRO 520 issued by it on December 21, 2017.
In a statement issued here, Abdul Majid Khan, president, LPEF, said that a distinct kind of post of ‘Government Services Assistant (GSA)’ has been carved under the SRO and these GSAs will be paid consolidated remuneration instead of providing regular time scale of pay of the post.
He further pointed out that these GSAs will be paid annual hike of 3 percent on their consolidated remuneration on the last day of a calendar year with effect from January 1 of the following year, instead of paying them usual annual increment of the grade pay.
“Moreover, on regularization, these workers have been entitled to leave and medical reimbursement benefits, etc only while the SRO is silent about giving them Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, CCA or other allied benefits given to permanent employees”, Khan said.
The LPEF president said these provisions are against the spirit of principle of ‘Equal Pay for Equal Work’, which may cause some sort of heart burning and resentment among these workers. He urged upon the Government to review whole gamut of regularization process in the light of the points raised by him in the best interest of the employees.
