Loot case solved, 6 arrested

JAMMU, Mar 9: Police solved a loot case with the arrest of six persons.
Interacting with media persons, SP South Sandeep Choudhary informed that a complaint was lodged by Ghulam Rasool Magrey, son of Ghulam Mohammad Magrey, a resident of Nawabad Sunjwan with Police Station Bahu Fort stating that some unknown persons looted him of his cash worth Rs 7.40 lakh by showing him sharp edged weapon and a gun.
SP informed that acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 68/18 under Section 397 RPC and 3/25 and 4/25 Arms Act was registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, a police succeeded in apprehended six persons, who looted Ghulam Rasool Magrey by showing him sharp edged weapons and a gun, Sandeep Choudhary said.
He stated that the arrested persons have been identified as Jafar Iqbal, son of Ghulam Qadir of Dillar Chatroo, district Kishtwar, Tariq Hussain, son of Ghulam Hussain of Shanpura Chingam, tehsil Chatroo district Kishtwar, Shanawaz Ahmad, son of Atta Mohammad of Chingam Chatroo district Kishtwar, Sajjad Ahmad, son of Mohammad Din of Polie tehsil Chilli district Doda, Mohammad Yousaf, son of Mohammad Iqbal of Berru tehsil Bhala district Doda and Amjed Hussain, son of Mohammad Hanief of Bargi Angnol teh Gundoh distt Doda.
SP Sandeep Choudhary further stated that the modus operandi of the looters was that they used to raid a certain building while dressed in police uniform and commit the crime.
In the instant case, amount of Rs 7.40 lakh has been recovered, SP said, adding that one dagger and one sharp edged weapon (toka) have also recovered on their disclosure. A Santro car bearing registration number JK06-2650 and Wagon-R car bearing number JMU-BW-2925 have also been seized in the instant case.
Investigation of the case is going on and more arrests and recoveries are likely to be made, he added.
The investigation was carried out by a police team led by SDPO East Arun Jamwal and SHO Bahu Fort Inspector Parvez Sajad.
