Lok Adalat, Legal Literacy Camp held

JAMMU, Oct 27: A Lok Adalat was held in District Court Complex Poonch on the directions of Chairman District Legal Services Authority Zubair Ahmed Raza, in which advocates, litigants, staff members and other prominent citizens attending the Lok Adalat.
Two benches were constituted for settlement of the cases. The first bench was headed by Zubair Ahmed Raza, Principal, District and Sessions Judge Poonch, and Munsiff District Mobile Magsitrate Traffic Poonch, whereas the second bench was headed by CJM Poonch Mohammad Ashraf Khan, who was assisted by Adnan Sayeed, Sub Judge Special Mobile Magistrate Poonch.
Various cases were taken up, out of which 27 cases of criminal and civil natures were disposed off and an amount of Rs 25,89,640 bank recovered has been realized and in other offences, an amount of Rs 29000 fine was imposed, which was also recovered.
Meanwhile, a Legal Literacy Camp on rights of prisoners and undertrials and plea bargaining was organized for the jail inmates of District Jail Udhampur. On the occasion, Advocates Pankaj Mangotra and Seema Bhagat delivered lectures on rights of prisoners and undertrials and plea bargaining. Harish Kotwal, Superintendent, District Jail Udhampur was also present on the occasion.
