Lodge migrating border people in safe zones: Charak

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Oct 22: Former Minister and senior Congress leader, Gulchain Singh Charak today condemned the ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops and demanded that terrorized and hapless people be placed at some identified safe places along the International Border or LoC.
Addressing a press conference here today Mr Charak, who conducted extensive tour of  this border belt in RS Pura and Bishnah tehsils where heavy Pakistani shelling has taken place recently, said that people were terrorized. They are unable to work in their fields. The security agencies are also not allowing them to fall victim to the Pakistani bullets. Their cattle are also falling victims to the bullets from Pakistani Rangers.
Mr Charak disclosed  that during his visit to villages like Jabbowal, Pindi, Arnia, Pindi Camp, Kathar, Treva, Channana, Kotli Kaku-de-Kothe and Kothe Camp, he saw the houses  and fields where several shells and bullets had been fired upon. Due to this, a feeling of  insecurity has been prevailing among the  border people. The Government must provide them timely support and they should be placed at the identified security zones by raising infrastructure. The people are much worried about their ripened crops which they have already harvested or yet to be harvested. The BSF is also not allowing them to move close to the border under such circumstances. Agriculture is the main source of income of these people.
The Congress leader impressed upon the Government to identify the shelters where the people could be lodged after the migration  and Govt of India should give appropriate reply to Pakistan.  He demanded that Govt should make arrangement for the harvesting of the crop and transportation by taking all necessary measures under such circumstances. Moreover, farmers whose crop was damaged due to recent hailstorm should also be compensated.
