KATRA, Apr 14: Locals and Youth Congress activists today staged a massive protest demonstration in the town to press the Government over their demand for establishment of Degree College in Katra.
The protesters took out a protest rally, which started from Raghunath Mandir and passed through main bazar before culmination at Fawwara Chowk.
Carrying placards, the protesters also burnt effigy of State Government and raised slogans in support of their demand.
“We have been neglected by the successive Governments, but this time we hope that the area will get the college which is need of the hour. We hope that justice will be done and the college will be established in the area,” the aggrieved protesters said.
“Our children are being forced to cover long distances for pursing higher education as there is no Degree College in our area at present,” they added.
Protesters appealed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Minister for Education to look into the matter and fulfill their demand at an earliest.
