Locals protest for doctors, speed breaker after man killed in accident

UDHAMPUR, June 22: Following death of a person and critical injuries to his son in road mishap on Dhar Road, village Paldai in Majalta, late last night, locals held a strong protest demonstration demanding doctors in the Primary Health Centre and speed breakers on the road.
Shouting slogans against the District Administration and demanding suspension of BMO Majalta, they alleged that no speed breaker on the road was cause of accident and non-availability of doctors at the PHC led to death of the victim.
The accident took place late last night around 2245 hrs when a Maruti 800, bearing registration number JK02AD-0341 was hit by a rashly driven bus JK02AN-8195. The person driving the car, identified as Kali Dass (50), son of Amar Nath of Bajalta Jammu, died on the spot while his son Chander Mohan got seriously injured.
Due to non-availability of doctor at Primary Health Center (PHC) Majalta, the injured was referred to GMC Hospital Jammu while Police registered a case in this connection.
Agitated over non-availability of doctor at PHC, the locals assembled at the Dhar Road and held a strong protest demonstration. They blocked the road from 9 am to 2 pm and raised slogans against the district administration and BMO Majalta. They were demanding posting of doctors in the PHC and raising of three speed breakers at different spots on the Dhar road.
Later on, Tehsildar Majalta Rajinder Kumar and SHO Majalta Urfan Parvez along with other officials reached the spot and assured the agitating people that their demands would be positively considered. On the assurance, the protest was called off.
The protest demonstration was joined by former Sarpanch Rajesh Sharma, Nirmal Kesar, Raki, Ladi, Kewal Sharma, Jagdish Kumar, Bhushan Kumar, Om Prakash, Kuldeep Kumar, Rohit, Raman, Ankush, Ravi Verma, Ajay Sharma, Shiv Charan Gupta and others.
