BARAMULLA, Mar 5: Irked by frequent cross LoC firing and shelling, locals of Uri sector in north Kashmir today staged a protest demonstration demanding construction of bunkers for their safety.
The protesters also raised slogans in favour of their demands.
Residents of Kamalkote, Salikote, Churanda, Balkote, Maorthal, Dardkote, Ishem, Gowalta, Sultandaki, Gowhaln, Thaljal, Chotale, Mayan and other LoC villages participated in the protest.
Lal Din of Churanda Uri, while talking to reporters, said that the locals of the area have raised the demand for bunkers time and again but there was a cold response from the Government.

Dr. Sajad Shafi of National Conference said that border tensions had already panicked people in Kamalkot and other areas and several families have been shifted to the makeshift camp at Uri in Government Higher Secondary School.
The protesters took out a rally and marched from main town to SDM office Uri and submitted a memorandum to the SDM for Governor demanding immediate construction of bunkers.
