Life remains paralyzed in Kargil as protest continues for Div Hq on rotational basis

KARGIL, Feb 13: Life remained paralyzed for the fifth consecutive day as all the Government offices, including LAHDC Secretariat and DC Office remained closed today on the call of the Joint Resistance Movement against SRO 110 and demanding Divisional Headquarter on rotational basis.
People at Shakar Chiktan took a protest rally in which all the political and religious heads participated with hundreds of people demanding equal right in the divisional status and revision of the SRO 110 by making the Headquarter on rotational basis for six month in Kargil and six month in Leh.
The protest has a strong support of all section of the society whether it be political parties, religious or social bodies and particularly employees under the banner of Joint Action Committee Kargil. This is for the first time in the history of Kargil that all the section of the society are coming on one platform and fighting for the common cause .
However, there was rush in the Kargil market and people were seen purchasing essential commodities. According to Acting CEC, LAHDC Kargil, Nasir Hussain Munshi, business establishments and transport were today kept out of the band so that people can purchase essential commodities and items while there will be new calendar tomorrow from Joint Resistance Movement against SRO110 .
Meanwhile, a meeting of the Co-ordination Committee on Divisional Status, comprising of prominent political leaders from Kargil was held at Jammu . During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held on the issue regarding establishment of the Headquarter of recently created Revenue and Administrative division in Ladakh region. Apart from some other important decisions, it was also decided that a massive rally on the demand of establishment of Headquarter on rotational basis would be organized in New Delhi on February 19.
It was also decided that no political, social, religious or any other organization would organise any protest rally in Jammu, Srinagar, New Delhi or any other place without proper consultation and consent from the Co-ordination Committee.
