JAMMU, July 1: LIC employees today observed ‘All India Demands Day’ by wearing badges and holding massive demonstration during lunch time in all the 19 offices of LIC of India in the State, as a part of joint call of all classes of employees at all India level.
The programme at Jammu was held outside DO Cell Jammu and jointly led by Pawan Gupta, divisional secretary, NZIEA, Srinagar Division, Ramesh Kumar (NOINO), Rakesh Magotra (NFIFWI), and Narinder Sharma, divisional secretary, LIC Class-1 Federation.
The employees were demanding early settlement of wage revision pending since August 1, 2012 and also for one more option for pension to left out employees. Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Gupta said that on one hand the management is not acting in favour of the employees and on the other hand, the policies of the NDA Government are totally against the workers. He said this is the reason that all central Trade unions including BMS are observing Bharat Bandh on September 2.
He said that the struggle against such anti-people, anti-worker, arrogant and adamant Government with economic policies focused in favour of the corporates is not going to be too easy and for this the tactical joint struggle with total seriousness is the only alternative.
It was informed that the joint agitational programme which commenced on June 17 has put an effective impact on the management and as per information received, the management through ED (personnel) has assured the unions to work in the direction of early settlement of wage revision of employees and also appealed to call off the proposed strike on July 8. He said that as a consequence of this the unions have decided to defer the proposed strike on July 8, but if the management did not act seriously, the agitational programme will resume.
Ramesh Chand, Ravi Pandita, Dinesh Sharma, Kishore, Rajesh Kumar and JD Singh also spoke on the occasion.
