LeT militant convicted

JAMMU, Sept 1: Principal Sessions Judge Udhampur, R S Jain today convicted Abdul Majeed, a LeT terrorist involved in Udhampur bomb blast case of May 2011.
After hearing both the sides, Principal Sessions Judge observed, “the prosecution has been able to prove and establish the criminal conspiracy of Abdul Majeed with Ghulam Sarvar by way of which he caused the explosion with an intent to strike terror or likely to strike terror in the people and to endanger the lives of security forces and civilians”.
“Due to the blast one person died while as several others suffered injuries. For this court holds the accused Abdul Majeed guilty of the offence under Sections 120B read with 302/307/326/324 RPC/Section 3 of Explosive Substance Act and Section 16/18 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act”, Principal Sessions Judge said.
Accordingly, he was convicted and sent to judicial custody. The court fixed September 3 for the arguments on quantum of sentence.
