Legislators, Finance Secy call on Governor

SRINAGAR, Oct 17: Sunil Kumar Sharma, Member Legislative Assembly, Kishtwar and former Minister met Governor Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhavan today.
Sharma apprised the Governor about the overall political and socio-economic situation obtaining in his constituency, besides, the various developmental issues of his constituency particularly those relating to Roads, Health, Education, Power and PHE sectors which required immediate attention of the administration.
Governor urged Sharma to continue sustained efforts for promoting the development and the welfare of the people of his area and urged him to continue his endeavors for generating awareness among people about the importance of establishing grass root level democratic institutions for overall development of the State.
MLA Ramnagar, R.S Pathania also called on Governor and raised various important issues pertaining to Ramnagar constituency.
Pathania highlighted the issue of protesting FMPHWs, NHM, Anganwari workers, MGNREGA and other contractual daily rated workers.
He appealed the Governor to streamline the salary of SSA teachers delinking it from Central grant.
He also appealed for widening the scope of SRO-520 so that more categories of daily rated workers and contractual employees can come under its purview.
Developmental issues like start of work on ITI Ramnagar, promotion of tourism related activities, opening of J&K Bank branches at various locations in Ramnagar, realignment of Roun-Ramnagar road up to Dudu-Basantgarh under CRF, promoting horticulture activities in Dudu Basantgarh area, industrial estates at Marta and Manwal, up-gradation of CHC Ramnagar on pattern of CHC Basholi were among other demands raised by the MLA.
The Governor assured full support to the MLA and urged him to devote high attention in promoting harmony and the welfare of the people in his area.
Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, MLA Ganderbal also called on Governor and apprised him about the overall political and socio-economic situation prevailing in his constituency, besides, briefing him about issues relating to the implementation of certain major developmental projects.
Governor assured that Sheikh’s concerns would be urgently looked into and urged him to continue his positive endeavours for promoting a peaceful environment which would enhance people’s welfare and enable rapid development of his constituency.
Principal Secretary Finance Navin Kumar Choudhary also met Governor and informed him about the various initiatives being taken by the department to generate and access resources for giving a fillip to development and growth of the State on a sustainable basis, to infuse financial discipline amongst the public functionaries, to implement fiscal reforms programme for providing fiscal and financial stability to the State. Besides, several important issues pertaining to the department were discussed.
Governor urged the Secretary to ensure that all the indicators of fiscal health of the State should be closely monitored and credible systems for public expenditure management should be put in place in an expeditious manner.
