UDHAMPUR, Apr 9: Legal Metrology Department today conducted checking of various stationery / school uniform shops in the town and booked the violators.
A team of Legal Metrology Department, headed by the Assistant Controller, Anita Sharma and comprising of Inspector Manpreet Kour and assisted by the member of Consumer Protection Council, conducted checking of various stationery/ school uniform shops and counters of books of various schools.
The department was receiving number of complaints regarding overcharging for books by various school- counters. The department inspected booked and stationery counters of KC Gurukul, DPS and Little Flower Convent School.
In total seven stationery shops were booked by the department for violation of various provisions of W&M Law. Rs 20,000 were realized as fine from the violators.
The department has informed that the consumers may register their complaint on toll free number of the department i.e: 18001807105.
