Lawyers’ Annual Sports Meet gets underway

JAMMU, Apr 15: Lawyers’ Annual Sports Meet 2014, being organised by the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, commenced today with the inaugural function which was attended by large number of Advocates, here.
The meet was declared open by the president of the Association, M K Bhardwaj in presence of other office bearers, players, senior members and advocates.
The participation of the members of the Association was overwhelming, who from their hectic schedule and stressful professional routine were seen physically and mentally enthusiastic and charged in the ground.
The sports meet which is scheduled from today to April 20, 2014, will witness 18 cricket and 6 volleyball teams in action, besides witnessing chess matches, athletics events, tug of war, and special sports events for ladies and senior members.
In cricket, Royal Warriors rode on a splendid performance by Surinder Singh Jamwal (63 10×4) and defeated Arrogant Tigers in an easy contest. Royal Warriors chased the target of 87 runs set by Arrogant Tigers with Jamwal scoring 63 runs and Parvesh Salaria taking 3 wickets and scoring 15 runs.
In another match, Legal Luminaries scored 58 runs in 10 overs which was chased by the Sachin XI in 5.4 overs by losing one wicket. Gagan Kohli contributed 27 runs in just 15 balls.
The third match of the day was won by Dabang Eleven by chasing the target of 50 runs in 4.5 overs by losing one wicket and in the fourth match Strikers outplayed Royals Eleven, who failed to reach the target of 92 in the allotted 10 overs. Divya Ishan scored 25 runs for the winners.
In the solitary volleyball match, Lions Six won in straight sets (25-19, 25-22).
