JAMMU, Oct 17: Competitions in the disciplines of Lawn Tennis and Basketball were held in Under-14 and Under-17 category under Khelo India initiative at Lawn Tennis and Basketball Courts, MA Stadium, here.
These District Level Competitions are being organized by J&K State Sports Council in district Jammu under the supervision of Ravi Singh, Divisional Sports Officer Jammu.
In Lawn Tennis U-14 boys, Samanya, Ranveer and Tanvinder won 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively, while in Under-17 girls, Pranya, Pawanpreet and Riya won 1st 2nd and 3rd prize respectively.
In Under-17 boys section, Aryaman, Karan and Bhavya Dev Singh secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
Sawan, Bhavya, Chhavi and Amar were the other players who also performed well. Surinder Mehra, SSP CRPF was the chief guest on the occasion, while Dr. Satwinder Singh was the guest of honour who gave away prizes to 1st, 2nd and 3rd position holders.
The prize money was Rs 1,500 for 1st along with Cup & Certificate, while Rs 1,000 along with Cup & Certificate for 2nd Prize holder and Rs 500 along with Cup and Certificate for 3rd position holder.
All the participants were also provided with refreshment of Rs. 100 per day during the competition.
In the game of Basketball, APS Ratnuchak secured 1st position, APS Akhnoor 2nd, and Rest of Jammu (Club) 3rd position.
Dr. Satinder Singh, Principal GGM Science College was the chief guest who gave away the prizes and certificates to 1st, 2nd and 3rd position holders.
