JAMMU, Jan 23: Minister for Law Abdul Haq Khan today issued directions for proper follow-up of the court cases which are delaying developmental works in different parts of the State.
Intervening during the question of Congress MLA from Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori regarding promotion of tourism, the Law Minister said, “I direct the Chief Secretary, who is sitting in the officers’ gallery, to pass necessary instructions to all the Administrative Secretaries to keep track of those court cases which are creating hurdles in the execution of developmental works”.
“This problem is being faced in various parts of the State and unless there is proper and regular follow-up the developmental works will remain confined to the papers”, he said, adding “as far as role of Law Department in getting the interim orders of the courts modified is concerned I have already passed necessary directions to all the Law Officers”.
The Law Minister said that even Chief Justice of J&K High Court has constituted a special bench to deal with those cases which are hampering the developmental works in different parts of the State.
Earlier, Congress MLA Ghulam Mohd Saroori expressed concern over inordinate delay in start of work on certain components of project titled “Development of Tourist Circuit from Sinthan Top to Kishtwar Base Camp” due to litigation and non-issuance of forest clearance.
Though Congress MLA repeatedly sought to know the criteria being followed for establishment of Tourism Development Authorities yet Minister of State for Tourism Priya Sethi failed to give any convincing reply.
In the meanwhile, MLA from Banihal Vikar Rasool started pressing for taking up of his question pertaining to Tourism Department. But, he was not allowed by the Speaker Kavinder Gupta.
“Government is discriminating in establishment of Tourism Development Authorities but you are not allowing me to raise the question”, Vikar Rasool told the Speaker and then staged walk-out.
