Landslides block Batote-Kishtwar NH for couple of hours

JAMMU, Sept 10: The 110 kilometers long Batote-Doda-Kishtwar National Highway today remained closed for couple of hours due to landslides at several places.
Hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on highway due to landslides at several places, reports said, adding some of the passengers walked on foot to reach their destinations.
Concerned authorities rushed to the spots with men and machinery and started the work to restore the vehicular movement on the highway. After remaining closed for several hours, the highway was restored.
Meanwhile, a lady and two children got trapped in the flash floods when they had gone to fetch water from a stream in Ghat area of the district Doda.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and rescued the trapped persons.
In another incident, a truck driver identified as Sudesh Kumar, son of Sansar Singh of Darsoo, district Udhampur got caught in a flash flood in river Tawi in tehsil Manwal of Jhajjar Kotli Police Station. A police team from Manwal Police Post led by SI Suresh rushed to the spot and rescued the driver.
